Chronicles: What to know about Premise Health

Kenton County Chronicles Posted on September 05, 2025

We're back with another edition of the Kenton County Chronicles, our monthly look at what our team members have accomplished.

Have a teammate who's not receiving the Chronicles? Send an email to meg.erpenbeck@kentoncounty.org and we'll get them added.

Let's kick it.

What to know about Premise Health

Kenton County is proud to partner with Premise Health, a leading provider of direct healthcare. Through our onsite and virtual health center, employees and their covered spouses have access to convenient, high-quality primary care, wellness services, labs and more—all designed to keep you healthier and make care easier to access.

We recently launched a new Premise Health microsite just for Kenton County employees. This site was built to answer your most common questions about care, including:

What services are available? (from routine checkups to labs and prescriptions)

How do I schedule an appointment?

Who is eligible to use the health center?

    What does it cost?

Where is it located and what are the hours?

The microsite is your go-to resource for understanding how Premise Health works and how to make the most of the care available to you.

Click here to explore the site and get answers to all your health care questions.

Meet our August Employee Spotlight: Adam Ryan

Adam Ryan stands by Kenton County Public Works

Adam Ryan has been part of the Kenton County Public Works family for nearly 26 years — long enough to have seen just about every kind of weather (and pothole) Kentucky can throw at him. In 2024, he stepped into the role of Public Services Supervisor, leading the crew that keeps our roads safe and clear year-round.

From trimming back brush for better visibility to patching potholes and plowing snow at 3 a.m., Adam’s team tackles it all.

Employee highlights from August

Halpin lands national recognition

Sarah Halpin in KCECC

Congratulations to our very own Sarah Halpin for her recent selection to an APCO International working group whose work will shape the future of Emergency Communications.

APCO International is a professional organization that provides standards and guidelines for Public Safety Communications Officials. Halpin was named to the "Core Competencies and Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Communications Instructor" team.

Her participation in this working group will help ensure that those who train our nation's emergency communicators are equipped with the essential knowledge, skills and abilities needed to excel in this vital role.

KCDC gives back to community

KCDC employees at St. Joe's festival

You never know who you might run into at a festival. Team members from the Kenton County Detention Center hosted a booth at St. Joseph's annual summer festival the first weekend of August.

Thanks for representing Kenton County and sharing with our community members the role KCDC plays in keeping our County safe.

In August, members of the Kenton County Police Department took on their peers from the Independence chapter of the International Association of Firefighters. Sadly, our team wasn't able to protect their net as well as they do our streets, losing 32 to 44.

However, they did successfully raise roughly $3,000 for the Independence Soccer Club, so we'll call that the real victory of the day.

KCDC welcomes new captain

Captain Kleier with Fiscal Court, Jailer

Michael Kleier (center) joined the Kenton County Detention Center more than 18 years ago, and on Tuesday, Aug. 12, he was sworn in as its captain.

Within the Detention Center, Captain Kleier is known for always keeping a cool head to help de-escalate any situation. Congratulations to him on this well-earned promotion.

KCDC's baby boom continues

Two babies on patterned backgrounds

For those of you keeping track at home, Kenton County's team has been fortunate to welcome many new faces this year, and no department has contributed to our baby boom quite like the Kenton County Detention Center.

In August, KCDC team members welcomed two new (very sweet) faces. Deputy John Russell welcomed a daughter, while Lisa Forrester welcomed a grandbaby.
